Laws of Life Essay Contest

We’re looking for great personal stories about laws of life that matter to you and help you make good decisions. Tell us about a law of life you learned, or make up your own. The only thing that matters is that it has to be a positive idea that if everyone practiced would make the world a better place.

Winners will be posted on the website and get a prize. (By the way, if you’d want to express your law of life using art instead, check out this contest.)

Laws of Life Essay Contest directions:

(Writing has to be in English)

  1. Reflect. Figure out what law of life you want to write about. Don’t rush yourself. Take your time to reflect about wise things people have said to you, or that you have learned from things you’ve read at school or at home, or from your own experiences. Maybe you want to write your own law of life to share with the world.

You can also find laws of life all over our website, and you can visit our BLOG to get a few ideas.
  2. Write. Put your thoughts down. Sometimes the best way to start writing, especially when you’re writing about yourself, is to just put down everything that’s in your mind –whatever you’re thinking – and then you can go back a little later to change and polish things. Keep your writing to under 1,000 words. Tell us this:
    • Your law of life
    • How you learned your law of life
    • Why it’s so important to you
  3. Re-read.Ok, wait for a little while, and then go back to what you wrote. Is it what you really wanted to say? Are there any things that you want to change or say differently? Also, don’t forget to check your spelling and grammar, so other people can understand you!

Sometimes it can be hard to write about yourself. If you want some hints to get started, here are some great questions to ask yourself. This is also a really fun survey to do with a friend or someone in your family.
